The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) is a voluntary, global standard managed by Textile Exchange. It verifies the presence and amount of recycled material in a final product — tracking inputs from the recycled material source through each stage of production to the final product.
RCS vs GRS — What's the difference?
While GRS (Global Recycled Standard) includes social, environmental, and chemical processing requirements in addition to recycled content verification, RCS focuses solely on verifying and tracing the recycled material content. RCS is the right choice when buyers need verified recycled content claims without the full GRS processing scope.
What percentage is required?
RCS requires a minimum of 5% recycled content to qualify for certification. Two label tiers exist: RCS 100 (95%+ recycled content) and RCS Blended (5-99% recycled content). Transaction Certificates are issued at every supply chain handover.
